Fat Cattle Report
Good afternoon, this is Shaun McHugh taking a look at the weekly livestock markets out of Dubbo for the 2nd week of November.
Tallied numbers this week included -
8500 fat cattle,
25000 lambs and
11000 mutton
Into the cattle pens firstly, where continued dry conditions along with a strong market kept the numbers rolling in for a larger yarding than last week. Larger numbers of cows and feeder cattle were on offer, along with good runs, suitable for the restockers and backgrounders. All the usual buyers competed in a mostly dearer market.
Young cattle to the trade were firm with prime vealers and yearlings selling from 430 - 500c/kg.
Feeder steers lifted 15 cents, selling from 460 - 528c/kg, while feeder heifers remained firm to sell from 405 - 470c/kg.
Young steers back to the paddock sold up to 576 cents, while the heifer portion reached 480 cents.
Grown steers gained 10 cents, selling from 452 - 498c/kg, while the grown heifers sold from 430 - 475c/kg.
Cows were mostly cheaper, easing 10 cents with the better D3/4 cows selling from 380 - 418c/kg.
The best heavy bull reached a top of 430c/kg.

Fat Sheep & Lamb Report
Into the lamb pens now where numbers lifted as did the market. A good selection of heavy lambs were on offer, as were trade weights and light Merino lambs. New season lambs were limited in supply and are mostly presenting in dry condition. It was obvious to see that lambs or hoggets with weight and shape were the ones attracting increased competition at the rail.
New season trade weight lambs sold from $237 - $289, while heavy new season lambs sold from $265 - $332.
Shorn trade weights lambs with cover lifted $15, selling from $240 - $300 with the heavy shorn lambs also lifting in price to sell from $330 - $395.
Extra heavy weight lambs attracted some spirited bidding, gaining $20 from last week to see prices topping at $412.
The best heavy hoggets reached a reached a top of $283.
Carter Lindsay & McHugh sold the following lambs for some of their clients -

And for Lachlan Toohey of ‘Fella Park’, who sold neatly shorn trade weight crossbred lambs in a 3 score condition, to the southern kill for $291.
Into the mutton pens now, where we did see the market ease by $15 - $20 across all grades.
