Fat Cattle Report
Good afternoon, this is Shaun McHugh taking a look at the weekly livestock markets out of Dubbo for the 4th week of October, 2025.
Tallied numbers this week included -
5500 fat cattle
25000 lambs and
14000 mutton.
Into the cattle pens firstly, where heavy cattle were in limited supply with the majority of the yarding being made up of finished feeder cattle and weaner cattle lacking finish. All the usual buyers competed in a firm to dearer market.
Young cattle to the trade were 15 cents stronger with prime vealers and yearlings selling from 440 - 520c/kg.
Lightweight feeder steers were 8 cents better while the heavy feeders remained firm.
Feeder steers sold from 430 - 515c/kg, while feeder heifers sold from 380 - 470c/kg.
Young cattle to the restocker remained firm, with young steers selling to 550 cents and young heifers selling to 485c/kg.
Grown steers and heifers were firm with the steer portion selling from 415 - 470c/kg, while the heifers sold from 390 - 467 c/kg.
Heavy weight cows were 3 cents dearer selling from 380 - 405c/kg.
The best heavy bulls reached a top of 394c/kg.

Locally for the Koerstz Family of ‘Warrie’ at Dubbo, who sold Angus bullocks for 460 cents, weighing a massive 835kg to return $3841.
The Crook Family at Eumungerie, sold Angus heifers for 448 cents, weighing 334kg to come back at $1496.
Warren Pipier of ‘Cabin Downs’ at Uarbry, sold Hereford steers for 457 cents, weighing 545kg to return $2495.
The Deshon family of ‘Rocklee’ at Wellington, sold Angus heifers for 430 cents, weighing 409kg and they returned $1761.
The Earl Family of ‘Longstowe’ at Warren, sold Angus cross heifers for 450 cents, weighing 546kg to return $2457.
To Nyngan for the Bolam Family of ‘Pangee’, who sold Angus cross steers for 463 cents, weighing 403kg to return $1869.
The Burley Family of ‘Woodlands Station’, sold Angus steers for 480 cents, weighing 390kg to return $1872.
Lastly for The Carter family of ‘Innaminna’, who sold Speckle Park cows for 392 cents, weighing 623kg to return $2446.
Fat Sheep & Lamb Report
Into the lamb pens now where we are starting to see limited numbers of extra heavy weight lambs on offer, however there were good runs of well finished new season and trade weight shorn lambs. All the usual buyers competed in a firm market.
Trade weight new season lambs finished $4 better, selling from $212 - $285 while the heavy new season lambs reached $302.
Well finished shorn trade lambs lifted $3 selling from $233 - $276.
Heavy old lambs lost $5 to sell from $280 - $365.
Merino lambs lost $7 as the trade weights sold from $152 - $210 and the heavy weights sold from $256 - $310.
Restocker lambs lifted $6 selling from $174 - $198 and the best heavy hoggets reached a top of $300.

Locally for Greg O’Connor of ‘Raceview’, who sold heavy shorn suckers in a 4 score condition to the export orders for $365.
The Pilon family of ‘Chloe’ sold composite cross suckers in a 3 score condition, with an inch skin for $248.
John Blease of ‘Tanners Creek’ at Tomingley, sold fresh Aussie White suckers in a 3 score condition for $248.
The Herbert Family of ‘Lynjoy’ at Nyngan, sold Dorper lambs in a 3 score condition for $220.
For Pete Edwards and Amanda Dunn of ‘Tubbavilla’ at Coolabah, who sold shorn suckers in a 3 score condition to the domestic kill for $295.
And lastly for Jon Pocknell of ‘Springvale Station’ at Walgett, who sold Dorper suckers to the domestic kill for $240.
Into the mutton pens now where all grades were represented in a firm to dearer market.
Light ewes sold from $100 - $156
Medium weight ewes sold from $175 - $213
Heavy weight ewes sold from $218 - $265
Light wethers sold from $120 - $148
Medium weight wethers sold from $166 - $210
Heavy weight wethers sold from $220 - $260

The Gibson Family of ‘Wilgadale’ at Girilambone, sold Merino ewes in a 2 score condition with an inch skin for $157.
And for The Stendell Family of ‘Ben Avon’ at Brewarrina, who sold Merino ewes in a 3 score condition with an inch and a half skin for $226.
