Fat Cattle Report
Good afternoon, this is Campbell Rose taking a look at the weekly livestock market reports out of Dubbo for the 3rd week of June 2026.
Tallied numbers this week included –
3500 fat cattle
16000 lambs and
8000 mutton
A total of 3522 cattle were sold at this week's sale, with numbers increasing from the previous market. The quality of the yarding was mixed, with more secondary crossbred cattle on offer, although there were still some good-quality, well-finished cattle available.
Buyer demand remained strong for the better-quality cattle, and prices for these lines were mostly unchanged. However, secondary cattle sold at lower rates.Middleweight yearling steers sold to feeders and restockers for 448–658c/kg, while heavyweight feeder steers made 470–606c/kg.
Yearling heifers sold to feeders for 440–560c/kg, with processors paying 440–530c/kg.
Grain-fed bullocks sold from 469–498c/kg, and grown heifers made 410–486c/kg.
Heavy finished cows sold for 380–440c/kg, while lighter and plainer cows ranged from 375–396c/kg.

Carter Lindsay and McHugh sold the following cattle for some of their clients -
Firstly, Murray Horstman at Stuart Town, sold store Angus cows to the restockers for 382 cents, weighing 450kg, returning $1719.
Noel & Janet Cooper of ‘Driel’ at Eumungerie, sold heavy Angus cross cows for 425 cents, weighing 700kg, returning $2975.
Kim Grattan of ‘Tittenvale’ at Tomingley, sold vendor bred Kidman Blood Angus weaner steers for 638 cents, weighing 211kg, to return $1347.
Lastly for Dave & Terese Carter of Nyngan, who sold vendor bred Angus feeder heifers for 560 cents, weighing 480kg, returning $2687.
Fat Sheep & Lamb Report
Into the lamb pens now, where lamb numbers increased this week and overall quality improved. There were fewer store lambs available, while trade and heavy lambs were well supplied. Extra heavy lambs remained limited in numbers. Merino lambs also showed better weight and condition.
Prices were stronger for lambs under 20kg, while trade and heavy lamb prices eased slightly.
Store lambs sold well, with mixed-sex light lambs making $120 to $251 per head. Light ewe lambs sold from $242 to $261 per head, while bare shorn joinable second-cross lambs sold from $364 to $385 per head.
Trade-weight lambs were $4 to $6 cheaper, selling from $230 to $293 per head. Lambs weighing 24–26kg sold from $280 to $318 per head, while heavy lambs made $290 to $354 per head. Extra heavy lambs sold from $325 to $400 per head.
Merino lambs sold to a top of $298 per head.
Mutton numbers also increased, although quality was generally plainer. Despite this, prices were stronger. Merino ewes with around 50mm of wool sold to a top of $374 per head, crossbred ewes reached $361 per head and heavy Dorper sheep sold to $350 per head.
Carter Lindsay and McHugh sold the following lambs and sheep for some of their clients -
Firstly, Stan Ellis of ‘Pinevale’ at Mogriguy, sold heavy Merino ewes with a 50mm skin for an impressive $368.
Carl & Kylie Irvin at Minore, sold very neat light Dorper lambs to the processors for $238.
Michael, Jocelyn & Declan Hoare of ‘Bel-Air’ at Nyngan, sold beautifully presented 1st cross ewe lambs for $385 to the restockers.
And Lastly, Ben & Liarne Mannix of ‘Gumbooka’ at Bourke, who sold prime Dorper ewes for $263.
