Fat Cattle Report
Good Morning, this at Shaun McHugh taking a look at the weekly livestock markets out of Dubbo for the 1st week of June .
Tallied numbers this week included:
11000 lambs,
5000 mutton,
2700 fat cattle and 1100 store cattle.
Into the cattle pens firstly, where numbers lifted with good runs of weaners and feeder cattle. Heavy grown steers and heifers were well supplied but there was plenty of light and plain grown cattle mixed throughout. The market was stronger across all grades with the cow pens remaining firm.
Weaner steers sold to strong demand, selling from 550c - 650c/kg while the weaner heifers sold to a top of 512 cents, that up 10 - 15 cents on last week. Medium and heavy weight feeder steers gained 6 cents selling from 480c - 560c/kg with the heifers feeders lifting 10 cents in price to sell from 468c - 538c/kg.
Prime grown steers and bullocks lifted 12 cents to sell from 486c - 498c/kg while heavy grown heifers sold from
458c - 491c/kg. Prime D3/4 cows were limited in number, selling from 402c - 428c/kg while cows back to the paddock sold to 404 cents. The best heavy bull reached a top of 430 cents.

Stan Noonan of ‘Redford Park’ sold Angus x steers for 526 cents, weighing 435kgs to return $2288.
The Mannix Family of ‘Gumbooka’ at Bourke sold Angus x cows for 382 cents, weighing 485kgs to return $1855.

Fat Sheep & Lamb Report
Into the lamb pens now, rain over the supply area reduced numbers, however quality was still good for a small yarding.
Trade weights lambs were in high demand, heavy lambs were well supplied with limited numbers of extra heavy weights on offer. Most of the merino lambs offered were trade weights with the market stronger across all grades .
Trade weight lambs selling to feeder and restocking orders gained $25 and sold from $240 - $298, while similar weights going to kill sold from $280 -$310. Heavy lambs were $15 better, selling from $300 - $347 while extra heavy weights sold to a top of $400. The best heavy merino lambs reached $300 and the best heavy hoggets sold to $312.
Into the mutton pens now were quality was mixed yet prices continued to rise.
Light weight ewes sold from $86 - $154
Medium weight ewes sold from $178 - $250
Heavy weight ewes sold from $280 - $360
Light weight wethers sold from $79 - $155
Medium weight wethers sold from $172 - $220
Heavy wethers sold from $250 - $320.
Carter Lindsay & McHugh sold the following sheep and lambs for some of their clients,
Locally for Scott and Jane Johnston off the Camp road at Dubbo sold Aussie White Ewes in a 4 score condition for $290.
The Whale Family of ‘Glenroy’ at Wellington sold 2nd x trade weight lambs in a 3 score condition with an inch skin for $296.
Simon & Kelly Earl of ‘Longstowe’ at Warren sold merino lambs in a 2/3 score condition with an inch skin for $226.
The Holland Family of ‘Avondale’ at Goolma sold Merino Ewes in a 3 score condition with an inch skin for $232.
The Fulton Family of ‘Ashantee’ at Tottenham sold Dorper Ewes in a 4 score condition to the export orders for $290.
That about wraps it up for another week, don’t forget there is NO sheep and lamb sale this week due to the long weekend.
